Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

Financial Year: 1 January 2024 – 31 December 2024 (FY2024)
Published in accordance with the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act, the U.S. Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), and Section 307 of the U.S. Tariff Act of 1930

Introduction

Lunescape is committed to operating with integrity, transparency, and respect for fundamental human rights across all aspects of our business. This statement outlines the actions taken during FY2024 to identify, mitigate, and prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our supply chain and operations.

It is prepared in accordance with the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act, the U.S. Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), and Section 307 of the U.S. Tariff Act of 1930. Our policies and practices are also guided by the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Labour Organization (ILO) Core Conventions. These laws and international standards are all current and actively enforced as of March 2025, and form the foundation of our ethical sourcing policies.

Understanding Modern Slavery

Modern slavery is a violation of basic freedoms and includes forced labor, debt bondage, involuntary servitude, and human trafficking. These practices are antithetical to Lunescape’s values and strictly prohibited across our supply chain.

Our Business and Global Supply Network

Lunescape is a curated online department store, launched in its current form in 2020 and headquartered in the United States. We offer a global collection of fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and home decor products sourced from over 1,200 independent and established suppliers across non-sanctioned countries.

Our model is intentionally global and decentralised. While we work with both artisan studios and fulfillment partners to deliver products to customers worldwide, we maintain ethical oversight across all sourcing relationships—regardless of geography or scale.

Governance and Accountability

Our ethical sourcing framework is overseen by our internal Compliance and Product Integrity teams, which operate in collaboration with Sustainability and Buying. Senior leadership receives regular updates on supply chain due diligence, risk identification, and non-compliance responses.

The governance structure ensures direct accountability for human rights risks and facilitates strategic decision-making to align sourcing with our ethical commitments.

Policies and Ethical Standards

Lunescape’s Responsible Sourcing Policy is built on internationally accepted human rights and labor standards. It requires all partners to:

  • Prohibit all forms of forced, bonded, and involuntary labor

  • Ensure safe, fair, and lawful working conditions

  • Comply with Lunescape’s Code of Conduct and audit protocols

  • Avoid subcontracting without prior written approval

  • Support traceability and transparency across their own networks

These expectations apply to every supplier, regardless of region, scale, or product category.

Due Diligence and Risk Management

To maintain ethical standards and prevent human rights abuses, Lunescape takes a multi-tiered approach to supplier engagement:

  • Audits & Assessments: All high-risk suppliers are required to complete third-party social compliance audits (e.g., SMETA), which include forced labor screening, grievance procedures, and freedom of association.

  • Country Risk Profiling: We maintain an internal system to assess risk based on global human rights indices, media monitoring, and NGO reporting, and apply heightened scrutiny in regions flagged as higher risk.

  • Pre-Engagement Screening: All potential suppliers must complete documentation, disclose production facilities, and confirm alignment with our Responsible Sourcing Policy prior to approval.

  • Site Visits & Direct Sourcing: Where appropriate, Lunescape engages directly with artisan suppliers or small studios to build trust, assess working conditions, and ensure alignment with our expectations.

Training and Engagement

Lunescape regularly trains relevant team members on the identification and reporting of modern slavery risks, especially within the Buying, Product, and Operations teams. We also engage with partners to reinforce expectations, encourage open communication, and provide clarity on compliance requirements.

Remediation and Escalation

In cases where potential violations of our policy are identified, Lunescape’s escalation framework is activated:

  • We work with the supplier to verify the issue, request documentation, and develop a time-bound corrective action plan.

  • If the issue remains unresolved or systemic, the supplier relationship is reviewed for suspension or termination.

  • We prioritise remediation that protects affected individuals while maintaining long-term ethical standards.

Looking Ahead

Modern slavery prevention is not static—it requires constant attention, learning, and accountability. Over the coming year, Lunescape will:

  • Expand supplier traceability beyond Tier 1 in key categories

  • Implement more robust audit follow-up and issue tracking systems

  • Strengthen onboarding and compliance scoring for new vendors

  • Continue aligning our policies with evolving international legislation and industry best practices

Reinforcing Our Ethical Commitments

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement reflects and reinforces the expectations outlined in Lunescape’s Ethics & Integrity Statement and Supplier Code of Conduct. Together, these documents establish our commitment to responsible sourcing and ethical trade across our global supply network.

Suppliers are expected to comply fully with both documents, including the prohibition of all forms of forced, bonded, or involuntary labor, adherence to international labor standards, and participation in ongoing due diligence, auditing, and transparency efforts.

Failure to meet these standards will result in remedial action or termination of the business relationship.
